We’re back with a fan favorite: VIA’s Meet the Team blog series! Through a Q&A-style interview, you will hear from our very own VIAneers about everything from a typical day at VIA to their favorite books, emojis, and activities outside the office. Now, let’s meet ‘em!
What does a typical day at VIA look like for you?
I’m lucky to have a job where no day is the same! I usually start my day by looking at my messages and writing a short to-do list to prioritize my current tasks. From making travel arrangements for my team to thinking of fun activities for our next social event, I am constantly juggling a nice variety of ad hoc tasks.
How has VIA’s adoption of flexible work locations impacted your work-life harmony?
I was super stoked to hear that I had the flexibility to work from our bright and airy office or from my home during the interview process. Because of this, I was able to travel often this year and visit my friends abroad. When I need a change of scenery from my home office, I am lucky that we have a gorgeous office located in downtown Montreal available to us.
What’s something you have worked on at VIA that you are most proud of?
Our onboarding process! Although we are constantly adding improvements to it, I feel proud to have participated in the successful onboarding of over 12 VIAneers and making sure that they have everything they need.
What’s your favorite VIA memory?
My favorite memory at VIA was organizing our 2022 Power Up at the Montreal office. It was my first time contributing to the coordination of a large event like this, something that I had never done before. It was quite the challenge to make sure that all the preparation, arrangements, and coordination of bringing our internationally dispersed team together went smoothly. Luckily, I have an amazing team that is always ready to lend a hand and help out!

What’s something everyone may not, but should know about working at VIA?
We have a fantastic wellness program that promotes our health and work-life balance. We have regular check-ins with wellness advisors who make sure that we are constantly aligned with our DNA (Desires, Needs and Abilities). On top of that, VIA is regularly coming up with new ways to promote our wellness. For example, this past summer VIA introduced Summer Fridays which allowed us to have a lighter work schedule on that day, recharge, enjoy the warm weather and have a better work-life balance. As a result, it boosted my morale and I felt more productive in completing all my tasks earlier during the week.
In your role, you work and collaborate closely with Colin (CEO), Kate (COO), and Jeremy (CSO). What’s that like?
Unlike in other companies, our CEO, COO and CSO are super approachable and receptive. Kate, Colin, and Jeremy always find time to answer my questions and guide me when I need it. They are incredibly patient, curious to hear about what others have to say, and treat everyone equally. I’m pretty lucky to learn from such intelligent and brilliant individuals!
Just for fun this time, what are your top favorite podcasts / books?
- “The Lonely Hearts Hotel”: Being born and raised in Montreal, I was always intrigued by the cohabitation of all of the different cultures and more precisely, the coexistence of the French and English languages. In O’Neill’s fictional book, you can immerse yourself back in 1910 with the subtle french expressions throughout the book.
- “Montreal Cooks”: A Tasting Menu from the City’s Favorite Chefs: As a big food nerd, I love everything related to food and the hospitality industry. This cookbook showcases some of the best chefs in Montreal and recipes from the top restaurants in the city.
- “Wendy, Master of Art”: This comic follows the life of Wendy as an artist in the tiny town of Hell, Ontario. It’s a funny book to carry around when you want to kill some time while sipping on your iced coffee at the park on a hot summer day.
What are your favorite emojis?
